The Last Time I Believed

As a human being I often reflect of my morality and mortality all at the same time. I sometimes lack the confidence to believe that my sins are truly forgiven at times and that my place in heaven has been eternally secured by my own actions, beliefs and livings. In other words, I have doubt of my own thoughts related to the assurances written in the Bible at times and this gave me distractions and commotions in my life I had to sort out.

As a Christian, I live between fears and hopes. I think we all do at one time or another. It is reasonable for someone to fear hell as it hopes to go to heaven. I think my life has been divided between good time and bad times and I surely fear the good times are recognized less than the bad times. Either way, my fear is real.

Listening to those many who preach or know the gospel they say it doesn’t have to be that way. They say the work of righteousness will be peace and the service rendered will bring quietness and confidence forever. Thus I add peace and quietness to my list of assurances to go to heaven. My calling is His calling and my work is His work. This I need to understand better.

Don’t we all question God at one time and doubt being saved? Don’t we all sometimes feel that our salvation is undeserved and that heaven is a very hard place to reach? Of course you do. It’s the mortality of your own existence that questions such things. Is there a heaven? Do you believe there is?

Last but no less important are there people who believe they are deserving of heaven and God’s assurances when in all moral conscious ways, they don’t deserve to go there? These are all questions for you to find out the answers to in order to believe what you believe.

This is all about false assurances that man-made religions have created for the sake of their own cause and their own beliefs. So what brings us to the point of believing you ask me? Let me put it another way, what does it take to have a shaken assurance that God will forlorn your desire to become one of his children? Isn’t that easier to explain.

First there is the condemnation of strong preaching that sets the stress for mortals to follow the gospel or face the consequences of the wrath of God. It focuses on the temptation of sins and what the consequences are for succumbing to temptation. Man is flawed and temptation is a way of life.

The second concern is the matter of guilt. Many people lack the assurances of going to heaven because they can’t accept forgiveness as a means to resolve their emotions and feelings towards themselves and others. Guilt is the tool of the devil and creates temptation to sin even more because guilt drives them to do what the conscience does and that is to speak against forgiveness.

We are all guilty of showing or possessing ignorance. We often know better but ignore the reasonable explanations written in the Bible and fail to understand or comprehend the meaning willfully. One must understand there is a price to pay for ignorance and that often results in false assurances of the power of God and the truth within the gospel.

As a human being we have uncertainties of our existence, purpose and many other things that cause doubts about life and how to actually live it. Since we don’t know what is going to happen to you when born, you are uncertain of when you will die and what moments you are to live in your life that shows everyone you are mortal, subject to making errors and always adjusting your lifestyle.

Temptation is a major reason for self-doubt and false assurances. We talk about redemption the same time we talk about temptation. We talk about our liberation but we also struggle between the flesh and the spirit. Two entirely different things we need to know about for the flesh is subject to human flaws and errors while the spirit is God’s work and will.

No life is complete without trials and tribulations. It is the very core of life’s happenings and moments. It is reasonable to conclude because we are human and not of the spirit we all make mistakes, poor choices and often pass judgment on others. We are tested daily and we have to show we need God to overcome these trials in our lives. Trials tests faith and faith is the strongest connection there is with God.

Remember we are of the fleshiness and therefore imperfect. It is most important to remember the difference between flesh and spirit. Not living by the spirit’s power forfeits what is taught, written and said in the gospel. Believing is a core element of being of the flesh.

In order to believe one must have faith and those elements of the spirit cascades from one good thing to another. We are all God’s children but we are held accountable for what we are, do and say thus confession is a tool to ask for being near God through prayer praise and worship.

This brings us to the moral of obedience or disobedience. The choice is up to you. You may lack assurances for going to heaven and going to hell if you are not clean of evil and your conscience as well as your heart does not dwell in the spirit. To live in sin is to live in doubt thus false assurances will certainly fall on those who disobey.

Don't continue to live with doubts about your eternal destination or destiny. Rather, live with the blessed assurance God wants you to enjoy as His child.
